Olga Tkachenko

Vocalist of Duo Zikr (since 1993)Vocalist of the solo project - Olga Tkachenko (since 2011)Creative director of the voice theater - FireVoices (since 2007)

Olga Tkachenko graduated from the Operetta Theater Studio and the Karpenko-Kary Theater Institute in Kyiv. She worked at the Operetta Theater and the Theater Drama Studio.
Olga's voice in the chest register sounds like a luxurious contralto, and in the upper register, it conquers listeners with the most delicate coloratura flourishes, which do not leave indifferent even the most refined connoisseur of vocal art.
Olga Tkachenko and her Duo Zikr partner achieved what seemed impossible—they reached the musical peak and created a new art form: symphonic singing. They used only their voices to express timeless values like love, joy, faith, and prayer.
Since then, Olga Tkachenko has continued to create music of special depth and beauty, filling the space with the light of the soul and love, evoking a sense of healing.

ABOUT OLGA'S MUSIC

    The uniqueness of Olga's music

Uniqueness is pure and never-repeating improvisation, a kind of mystery, the framework of which is determined by the theme. The content is determined by the artist's spiritual world and the hall's atmosphere. The musical form is determined by Olga Tkachenko's compositional talent and rare vocal techniques. She does not sing academically, relying on the harmonic series familiar to our ears; she goes deeper and voices the essence of the themes of her improvisations, using the sophisticated technique of vibrational voicing. The sound is born inside the body, and thanks to body resonators and vibrations, a specific timbre is obtained. Thus, music is born right on the stage.

    Exploring voice possibilities

Initially, Olga and her Duo Zikr partner wanted to draw people's attention to the possibilities of the human voice. For a long time, the artists mastered various archaic singing techniques from around the world, and, based on this rich material, they decided to create a voice theater. The duo worked hard to improve their vocal technique. Olga studied classical singing with the Italian vocal teacher Tiziana Soyat and further developed her skills through classical vocal techniques.Researching the possibilities of the voice is what inspires Olga to create her music, which is born right on stage. The artist shows that the human voice can sound like an organ and convey what words cannot: the life of the human soul.

Olga's music is free from genre stereotypes

The music of Olga Tkachenko, Duo Zikr, and FireVoices does not fit into any musical format; the artists are so original and unusual that any comparisons and attempts to attribute their music to any style are simply inappropriate. Their originality is free of genre stereotypes. In the compositions, you can hear a variety of directions: from classical music and ethnic singing to modern free jazz and fashionable club formats.
The artists experimented widely with different styles, performing alongside jazzmen, rock musicians, avant-garde artists, instrumentalists, organists, and even a symphony orchestra.
